Common is one gospel chapter a day, every day. A Common Companion is an optional second reading that follows the same 89 day cycle, pairing each gospel chapter with a chapter from another part of the Bible, like Acts, Genesis, or the Psalms. It's a way to explore the whole of scripture without ever stepping out of the gospel rhythm.

HOW IT WORKS

The calendar above shows each day's gospel reading. The companion sheets show the rest:

1. Check the calendar for today's gospel chapter.
2. Find that chapter on your companion sheet.
3. Read the chapter listed beside it. If today is Matthew 5, NT Companion 1 pairs it with Acts 5.

Every companion sheet lists all 89 gospel chapters with their matching reading, so you can find your place in seconds no matter where the church is in the cycle. Sheets are available in the reading resource corner at the church.

Do I need to read both the gospel and the Companion reading?

No. The gospel chapter is the undercurrent of Common, and the Companion is an invitation to new readings, not a requirement. Read the gospel alone, add the companion when you want more, or follow just the companion. Everything is matched to the same calendar, so you're always in rhythm with the whole church.
